In a recent question about seeing spirits and after a near death experience, multiple people mentioned something about the thinning of "the veil". What does this mean? I am very spiritual and have dreams that happen a couple of days later and I often sense and feel spirits around me. I have not had a traumatizing event or anything however I had a very eye opening summer. Is this just a growing of the spirit or a gift from god or a higher being?

I like Geoff's answer the best, honestly any way to put it into words is going to be coarse,

in many peoples's opinions the barrier between the "physical/Mundane" aspect of our plane and the "supernatural"/Metaphysical aspect of our plane, has been getting thinner, more and more people being more aware of spiritual and metaphysical things, ect.

some go as far as to say that one manifestation of this is the drastic escalation of metaphysical things being in popular media and such. every year theres more shows about metaphysics, and people with special abilitys... more frequent movies, and shows, and everything.
look how much spiritual and metaphysical sections in bookstores are, how much more is avaliable on the net,
how much easier it is to discuss such things in a casual way.

the changes effect even those with no psychic awareness to speak of, and more and more people are gaining signifigant awareness of such things.

the veil is the barrier that surrounds the spiritial realms from the "waking world" or the realm of the living.....

think of it this way the world we live in is an egg in a cardboard box that was shipped by fed-ex or some other courrier service the packing foam or styrofoam keeping the egg safe is the veil and the box around it is the spirital realms

that's the best way i can think of it to explain it

Hope I helped

I would suggest reading "Walking between The Worlds" by..Gregg Braden. All the questions that one could have on the topic are thoroughly cover by an earth scientist who is extremely spiritual.
It is the veil that separates the two realities...the spiritual or paranormal, and the physical.

Veils were worn in Mesopotamia, and they still constitute an important component of dress for women in many areas of the Middle East. Assyrian legal codes specified that only free, married women could wear veils; these codes specifically prohibited slaves and prostitutes from wearing them. The association of veiling and status persisted in Middle Eastern cultures; in early-20th-century Egypt and Arabia, veils were a sign of high social status and feminine modesty. However, the significance of veiling varied according to time and place. For example, in mid-20th century Iran, members of the urban elite class began to adopt Western-style clothing and to associate veiling with the less-educated classes.

peace to you,
i have dreams that happen later on as well and have another friend that also does. i don't try to dwell on them too much. just see them as a gift from God. Some of them are almost like warnings; God telling me, "stay away from this person," or "stay close to this person." i am a very religious Muslim and this is not something that most ppl belonging to my faith would believe and i, myself, would've never believed it had i not seen them happen before my eyes. i just try to keep it as something beautiful between myself and God. it is definitely a blessing.

peace and blessings,
Sakina

ps i am also not familiar with 'the veil'

thinning of the veil in that context would be an opening of seeing or understanding or both. Did you hear the expression in a dream?

'The veil' is a veil of forgetfulness that was placed upon us when we were born onto this earth, leaving the presence of our Father. At times, people may have dreams or experience enlightened understanding concerning spiritual things that remind them of life with our Father in the pre-earth life.
