I have wore my hair, very long, at times, over the years. It's to my waist, now. I've never been bothered by a bad split end problem. Of course you want to give it a one or two inch trim, every four to six months. I never use a brush on my hair, always a very wide tooth comb. When I wash my hair, I always use a conditioner, this is mainly for easy comb out, when wet. Here is my homemade remedy, pour some olive oil, amount really just depends on how long your hair is, I use 8 oz. in a small glass, set it down into hot water, stir with your finger. I do this only to judge when it is warm. Rub into your entire hair, put your hair up in a towel, made into a turban. Leave it in for 30 minutes, wash it out, repeat with shampoo then use your conditioner. Do this once a month, at least. It has always worked well for my long hair. We live in a fast passe world, but the less you use a hair dryer, and let it dry naturally, the healthier your hair will be and look. Charlotte C

Do not listen to that person who told you to use Pantene or Garnier. Drug store shampoos and conditioners are TERRIBLE.. use Salon products.
I am not rich but they are worth saving up for. Drug-store products are just wax, if you microwave them you'll see they get waxy, when Salon products stay creamy or 'gel'-y, whichever one they are. Drug store products only coat your hair with wax to make you think your hair is smoother, and the wax is usually also the cause of your hair breaking off!
It is proven that Salon products work best, I wish they were as cheap as drug-store shampoos but unfortunately no. Fortunately you use less of the salon products at a time because the chemicals are compressed so a small bit will lather a lot more than drug-store products so your bottle will last longer! I have heard but I am not sure that drug store products use fillers so you use more, they run out faster which would mean you'd have to go out and buy more of their stuff!
Ever since I started using Salon products (i forgot what brand I used, and I don't feel like checking!) my hair has just been gorgeous. In my opinion it was a very good change!

split ends is mainly cause by ur hair being tooooo dry, combing it too much, bad cut ! the only solution for it is to cut them off. ppl say to oil them n they go away, but HOW ? the ends will stick back together? NO !!
jst cut them off n keep ur hair moisture, oiling it (cocunut oil, almond oil) once a week does a gr888888 job ! also u can use those leave in conditioners or bonawel (u wash if off after half hour!)

Split ends are caused when your hair is dry and damaged. You can't fix them.

Use a shampoo for dry hair and a good conditioner; Pantene, Garnier...they're not stupid expensive and they still work well. They're worth the few extra dollars.

Don't use too much heat on your hair.

U might have permed, dyed, bleached or rebonded ur hair.these cause split ends. The only way to to go for hair treatments at salon and also to cut off the split ends. remember not to perm or colour ur hair too often.

slipt ends is dead hair...what you need to do is go to a good salon and get a good trim...just a trim...and do so every 6 months or every year...that helps your hair grow and grow faster...to prevent split ends avoid using the combs or brushes too much...and when using one use one that is wide...also to keep your hair healthy put regular hair conditioner or leave in conditioner 30 to an hour before going into the shower...it helps keep healthy oils in your hair that will make it look shiny and keep the frizz away...hope this helps

It's the same effect that happens to an old tattered flag. Wear and tear on the hair causes the ends to frazzle.
Best solution (it's gross) Hask Placenta.
