I am an English speaker and want to learn Albanian. My husband was born in albania and his family speaks it to each other. I would like to join the conversation and also show my respect to the family.

I used Pimsleur from the community library. It contained some CDs which I only downloaded to iTunes and listened to each of the time. this is reliable yet some stuff is old. Albanians use their very own money, the leke, or maybe with the very undeniable truth so you might use fractions of that (one hundred leke is about a dollar) no human being does. it really is an identical as figuring out to purchase each thing with charges and quarters in the US. No different replace fairly got here into play. I lived there as a Peace Corps volunteer and to study adequate to get round is only no longer demanding. Or, in case you already know Italian already you're fantastic (this is extensively spoken). To a lesser quantity, German, Russian, and French, too.

By spending a year or so in Albania would be a start!

Have you tried asking your husband and his family about your wishes?

Share with them your desire to learn their language.

I am sure that they could help you learn the basics at least!

You don`t have to be a teacher to do that.

How do you think parents teach their toddler how to talk?

They could show you or point at different objects around the house and tell you what the word is in Albanian.

Learning a new language is not easy I know but the longer you wait, the harder it`s going to be.

Ideal age? During childhood.

No doubt.

Try picking up 'Mesoni Shqip' by Cezar Kurti at the bookstore or you can purchase it off Amazon. HTH : )
