Labs gain weight too easily, do NOT leave food out. Once they gain the weight, they run a higher risk of hip and elbow displaysia. You should feed him twice a day. In the morning and the evening but not close to bedtime. You want to keep the same schedule as well.
Your puppy may look all grown up but he is still a puppy. He should still be fed puppy food for the added nutrition. Feed him the puppy food for the first year. In some larger breeds even into the second year. (This definitely means Labs!!) Ask your veterinarian when you should switch to adult food. Make sure the adult food you switch to is still a balanced diet with the first ingredient being meat.

At that age start once a day like 2 to 3 cups and that is fine. Dogs will eat as much as you put down. So no do not just keep the bowl full. Food plus treats is good for them, if you just keep feeding them they will eat them selves to death
A dog is not a cat. Cats you can leave a full bowl of food for

Just twice... once in the morning and once at night. Since he's still growing (til about 2 yrs old), i'd feed 2 cups at each feeding... then, at about 2 yrs, cut it down to 1 1/2 cups at each feeding. you will need to watch his weight, if he's getting too thin, feed more and if he gets a little to thick (where you can't feel his ribs) then cut back on the food. Labs need LOTS of excercise at that age, be sure to keep him active! Good luck!

Dont use the chart on the side of the package as the rule. Feed your dog as much as he needs. My dog free feeds now. (has a constant supply of food) When he was younger he was a little piggy so i would feed him 3-4 small portions through out the day. Make sure he has fresh water all day.
Oh and make sure he is on a high quality food. Try Nutro. Best dog food ever! Made my dogs fur soooooo shiny it was unbeleivable!!! you have to get it from a pet store though and it costs more but it is more than worth it.

For adult dogs, once a day is fine if that's what you can fit in, but twice is even better.
In either case, keep an eye on body weight. If the dog looks a little thin, you might want to feed more often, if he looks a little chunky, cut back the frequency or the amount of food.

dont keep the bowl full at all times, check in the bag how much food he needs depending on his weight. I feed my dogs twice a day and I know exactly when they need to go out. The best thing is to keep a schedule if you can. Remember that labs tend to gain weight very easy and they need to stay healthy because, overweight can cause hip problems when they get older! good luck!

We feed our dogs 2 cups twice a day during the winter and 1.5 cups twice a day during the summer. We had them on free choice feeding and one of our males that has been fixed over ate and began obese. Since we only feed them twice a day he has lost weight and has more energy.

I always thought all dogs should be fed twice a day but the amounts differ according to size and food. The amount should say on the food
