Weather you’re 007 licensed to kill or busting shoplifters at your local K-Mart. The number one requirement to be a covert operative for the FBI, CIA, NSA, US Military, Home land Security, British Intel agents, MI-6, MI-7 and all the rest is at least a four year collage degree. In fact most organizations recruit candidate’s right from the collage or university campus. Other requirements; be fluent in one or more foreign language, to have been born or have family in a foreign country is a plus, and contrary to popular belief, it’s better to be of average height, average looks, someone whom doesn't stand out in a crowd, doesn’t draw attention to them selves. Have little or no family, keep a very quite and private lifestyle. Keep the truth from everyone. Its requirements like a good memory, quick thinking and being calm under pressure, which will keep you alive, not guns or martial arts.
Here are the requirements for the CIA: (Copy and pasted from the CIA web site)

As with all NCS professional careers, the job responsibilities require absolute personal and professional integrity.
CIA Careers: Clandestine All applicants must successfully complete a thorough medical and psychological exam, a polygraph interview and an extensive background investigation. US citizenship is required.
