The only way you can get a definitive diagnosis is from a psychologist, psychiatrist or your health care provider. You can try one of the online screenings but you still need to be diagnosed by one of these individuals. You would also require appropriate medication therapy. Self-diagnosis is not acceptable nor is it accepted.

In my opinion, if you are a generally healthy person, then you can probably determine whether or not your a candidate for a bipolar diagnosis on your own. Just visit some of the reputable mental health sites and see if your symptoms fit the disorder, but make sure you check out this website: http://www.dsmivtr.org/
However, in order to receive a legitimate diagnosis of anything, you have to be diagnosed, and only a medical professional can give you an official diagnosis.
There are no tests that can determine if you have bipolar. A trained medical professional will look at your medical history, ask questions about your life, your past, your behaviors, habits, etc, and then compare your answers with what's found in the DIAGNOSTIC AND STATISTICAL MANUAL OF MENTAL DISORDERS. He will then use his best judgement of what he believes in the reason why you have the symptoms you are experiencing.
Also, only a medical professional can treat bipolar disorder, and with a disorder that serious, it would be worthless knowing you have it, and not receive treatment for it.

it's hard to make a self-diagnosis becuase there are alot of medical factors involved. bipolar disorder is the cycle of depression and mania. depression is usually marked by increase in sleep, weight gain, lack of social drive, suicidal thoughts where mania is marked by racing thoughts, feeling pressured to talk, overly social, grandious delusions, poor decision making. most people think that bipolar disorder is when someone gets mad and then gets happy. well no, it's more of an episode of one followed by a period of normality followed by another episode, manic or depressive. there are environmental factors involved however alot of doctors agree that it is an imbalence of certain enzymes and a b12 vitimin defecincy. your best bet is to see a professional.

You are best off going to a psychologist or psychiatrist to get a diagnosis. If you want to look it up for yourself, just use the DSM. It has the same diagnostic criteria that medical professionals use.

Please dont try to self diagnose......that is never the way to go. I was diagnosed bipolar 6 months ago and should have been diagnosed years ago. The sooner you get diagnosed with the correct diagnosis the closer you are to feeling better and getting help.

You can't. It is a medical diagnosis which requires a doc to dx. You can suspect it, you can say you have it, but you cannot be 100% sure (or insurable for such) until it is DX.

Here are a few tips to help
First, are you not happy with your life?
Have you had any suicidal thoughts?
Have you deliberately injured yourself?
Do you spend hours crying and avoid spending time with friend or family?
Have you had a hard time sleeping?
