The recipe is referring to white sugar but I know lots of people who prefer brown. Up to you mostly.

For a mixed drink I would suggest brown sugar, it just adds a bit more flavor than basic granulated. I only use brown sugar in my Irish Coffees.

i would use regular old granulated sugar, or for my diabetic mom splenda.
