Christianity uses a great deal of pagan rituals (SHHH! Don't tell them!) and the idea of Christ as a sacrificial lamb is one example.

Actually Judaism had a long history bof animal sacrifice as well, and it hasn't ended. They are currently breeding a line of cattle to get a perfect steer for sacrifice when they get some temple built or whatever kooky prophesy they have come up with now. Modern religion is nothing more than the evolution of ancient religion,in fact if you do a little study you will find a religion that worshipped the ressurection of a deity about 1000 years before Christ was even born,no original ideas there, just the continuation of old superstitions put under a different name.

I am no scholar, but I have done a lot of soul searching if that counts, and I think it is more of a metaphor for the sacrifice that he made to his God/Father that this is making reference to. That and the fact that he did not put up a physical fight when they called him to trial and eventually his own execution. I may be a Pagan now, but I was raised a Christian, so I have read a lot of the Bible not all of it mind you but enough to know the basics.
Peace Out to all

Jesus died to appease the Gods, and that took great courage -- or did it take great delusion?
If the Gods hadn't been appeased all souls would go to hell. This is basically the Christian story, though not in those words.
It's more sad than laughable that humans still believe a version of Pagan mythology.

Yes, there is history of sacrifice - even in the OT. Yes, Christians have adopted and adapted many pagan ways, and yes some Christians berate and hate pagans - who are basically practicing the same they they are - because they lack understanding and education on the matter.
If you are interested in what was adopted and adapted, then by all means, research away. You'll find a great deal was, as well as the many many similarities between world religions. It's intriguing research.

take causation with your seeing sense of needs to know, when things in any form are out of context with times and people they are one ages rallying point is another deformation. this is true mostly to assure you that the sense of religion has all these improprieties and more and still we linger at the door wondering how does this work or how does that work, i choose to be of spirit and not of the blood of animals in sacrifice it's to much of a part of life that i would just as soon not know about, i have some privileges too and many things i love i don't question, because i have already been there and done that, or there is only one path and no need to look for another, many easier things about the faith are good to enjoy and it is in this we can c

Its more than a coincidence. Animals were sacrificed to God as a way of tithing, to ask forgiveness for sins. Jesus is the lamb of God sacrificed by God to us to show that he wants to forgive us.

enable me answer the final question first - i do no longer think I even have on no account met a Wiccan that believes in the Christian hell. for sure I even have not met each and every Wiccan obtainable (no longer even close), yet one in each and every of those concept could be fairly opposite to our ideals so as that must be a stupid concept for a Wiccan to have. As to something of the questions, for me individually, i think the gods are very genuine. they do no longer symbolize something else (consisting of archetypes). I easily have faith that gods different than those I honor exist. i think that each and each physique gods exist and that i honor those that I even have individually experienced in my life.
