My grandparents! Three of the four came from Belgium originally. I think they were very, very brave to leave their homeland to try to make a better life for themselves. As much as I'd like to do it, I don't have the guts!

Also, my best friend when I lived in West Virginia was an English "immigrant". (She and her husband and a lot of other English folks came to work in the VW plant--to better their lives.

Then the plant was closed and sent to, of all places, Mexico--for even cheaper labor!)

edit:

What in the world did I say in this answer that could possibly have rated a "thumbs down"??

It used to be of someone coming legally, at risk to themselves and family to carve out a new life in our country, who loves our country. Lately it has been to look carefully at what is being said because it is probably a code word to cover more benefits being given to ILLEGAL immigrants,

illegal

(thats so sad that that is the first thought but it is)

maybe it has to do with all the talk about immagrants as of late, they are made out to be enemies of the state, when all they want is good work, even having to break the law and hurt our economy to do it
