its advised for those who like to dress with modesty. some people identify it with muslim beliefs, while, the nuns also wear hijab. however, this should be a matter of personal choice, and not forced on anyone, or forced away from anyone. one may try it for some days, to see, if it really makes any difference, and draw respects from others (specially men).
