I'm an atheist and I am not offended by "Merry Christmas". If it's meant nicely then it's just a nice greeting and I'd wish the person a merry Christmas back. However, some Christians who are very much against the "Happy Holidays" greeting have started to try to offend others with "Merry Christmas" as a kind of "IN YOUR FACE! I don't give a damn what you celebrate, my holiday is more important." Those people do not mean "Merry Christmas" in a nice way. I don't get offended by them, but I pity them for their childish attitude and narrow-mindedness and wish them a "Happy Yule".

I've come across very few non-Christians who are offended by "Merry Christmas". As far as I can see it's Christians who find "Happy Holidays" offending because it doesn't focus on THEIR holiday but on all holidays. They seem to think they are being discriminated against for not getting special treatment over others.

Rather 95% do get offended! More and more Christians themselves are now realizing the hoax that Christmas is and are angry having been deceived all this while.

Not at all. Nor would I be offended if someone wished me a Happy Hanukkah or a Happy Solstice.

P.S. I like your Brick Testament avatar ;)

Im not. I celebrate christmas. But even if I didn't I wouldn't whine and complain if someone said that to me. Its just a kind holiday greeting. Not some new profanity word! lol.

I'm not offended. I even say it. I'm not Christian, but Christmas isn't a Christian holiday anyway.

how many people will be offended if I fart in their face?

problem is -- when christians say it -- most of the time, they say it for themselves, not really for the person they are saying it to. anymore, it has become a statement rather than a greeting. a statement about THIS IS MY CULT!! (don't believe me? watch them go into a tailspin if you reply with HAPPY HOLIDAYS. it's not pretty...you want to really watch them freak out? call the holiday what it always has been -- say Happy Solstice! they'll pratically self-combust.)

you can't even sneeze around them without them rushing up with a GOD BLESS YOU... It's a SNEEZE!!! like god gives a damm about my sinuses! it's just more selfish cult crap. and it doesn't impress anyone. it is meant to annoy some people, and it does! surprise!!!
