i know at methadone clinics they can cut people off due to abuse and not following the guidelines of that clinic.they dont cut you off cold turkey, but they taper you off quickly within a week which of course causes withdrawal symptoms. As far a regular MD i dont know how they do it.

There is no legall about that. No he should not stop you like that. With methadone it is very addictive and a person needs to be weened off of it. (its haroine, sinthetic form) Just stopping the medication can cause withdrawls. Very bad headaches.

I don't know the answer to your question, but what the other people said makes little sense to me. In my mind, they doctor should be MORE careful in how he stops medicating a patient if he know they are abusing. Seems to make alot more sense, eh?
Stop accusing!

I would also have to say yes, if your abusing it!
My husband takes it for chronic back pain and they are very strict with him. But I would imagine if he abused it, it would be taken away in an instant!
