I remember when dating used to be a good thing. I used to see people holding hands and laughing and getting to know each other better. It didnt have a lot to do with sex, you did a lot for each other, and you just enjoyed being in each other's company. It seems like those good memories of what dating was is gone and now people just start dating and getting to serious with others for all the wrong reasons? What ever happen to those really good relationships? Will they ever come back.. What do u think?

I agree with you, but morals have decayed to such a low level, and people have elevated what they feel in their nether regions as the be-all, end-all. Gentlemen stop being gentlemen when ladies stop being ladies.

The behavior you described is what my husband and I do (holding hands, laughing, talking, doing things for each other, enjoying each other's company, making good memories.)

I happen to agree. Dating should not be about getting sex. Dating should be about enjoying the company of another person who shares your interest. Look around how many young women have jumped into bed after only a couple of dates with a guy, ended up pregnant and the guy has already "dumped" them before they found out they were pregnant? That should tell them SOMETHING but they're not paying attention. So they turn around and do the same thing over. It's one thing to make an error in judgement ONCE. It's plain stupidity (for which there is NO excuse) a second and third time (or more)

I agree with you. It do seem that now days, dating is mostly about sex and seeing how easily they can get the person to sleep with them. Its like pple seem to skip over the part of actually getting to know a person and seeing their good sides and bad sides before hitting the sheets. It seems that in today's society that that is what you see most of the time, from TV to movies and other entertainment aspects, people go out one night, and the next minute you see them laying in the bed after making out. It's sad but that's the way things are now days and I don't think it will be changing no time soon.

Oh man. I think the reason relationships are based mostly on sex now is because of the growth of society & media. For example.. What was considered "raunchy" back in the 40's, and what's considered "raunchy" now? When did kids learn about sex in the 70's, and when are they learning about it now? It's sad to admit, as much as some enjoy the music & tv, etc today, this aspect of sex on a pedistal is being broadcasted to people of all ages. Its all grown too much. It's sad because i dont believe we can take a step back from this.. only move deeper into a world based on sex.

Well, people used to "court" each other and be formal. But we live in a faster world now.

You can control that though by not putting out and waiting to get to know someone before you sleep with them.

I am optimistic that the relationships are there it is just harder.

I agree with you that things are getting worse, but, unfortunatly I don't think things will get better, cause now thats what people associate dating with...sex.

Wish things were different...

it's called growing up, and no; it's very unlikely it will ever come back. it sucks, but it's life.
