I have a female friend who has been dating her boyfirend for almost a year and she even moved across country to be near him. But because he is divorced(former wife cheated on him) he has told her that he is no hurry cuase he was burned once before. I am married and told her to maybe give the guy some time and he will come around. I proposed to my wife 2 years after we started dating. How long should my friend wait?

About 18 months is good. But duh- he told her he's in no hurry, so that could mean 5-10 years to him. She needs to discuss this with him. And it sounds like he has issues he needs to work on- he's punishing her for his ex-wife's behavior.

I'm thinking she is "barking up the wrong tree" He has already told her he isn't interested in marriage. I don't know how much clearer than that he could be. She is basing her future on a fantasy and she needs to come out of her dream world and face reality.

It really depends on the people and the situation I went with my husband for 12 yrs but I had been in multiply marriages and he had also been married before. I had a business to run and he had his affairs to take care of I had children to raise so you see it depends on the individual situation.

I would agree with two years. That's more than enough time.

that is all about her "timeline"
happy ever after doesn't mean married

I see no reason to wed except for children.
