It depends on the quantity and type of running you do. If you run a lot, you probably are getting enough protein in your diet already because you consume so many calories. If you are a sprinter, or working on leg strength with interval training or hills work outs but not much total mileage, you might want to bump up your protein.

If you would like to gain muscle you can continue drinking protein shakes, but if you just want to shed a few pounds drink water instead! But no matter what, always stay hydrated!

no, you shouldn't because people that drink protein shakes usually use it to replace a meal or to gain extra muscles while lifting weights.
