Soap isn't going to kill any bacteria unless it specifically says "antibacterial" on the container it comes in. So I don't know what you guys are smoking...but you have no idea what you're talking about.
Shampoo is fine. You might as well use soap though. The hair isn't growing that long so it doesn't have to be super healthy. You could use soap and then put a tiny bit of conditioner on it.

Soap is made to kill bacteria in dark warm places such as the under pits and pubic hair, u should use soap or use soap and then shampoo just to get that nice scent lol

As long as you wash you're doing great, thank you. Shampoo is not bad at all, but soap will kill more odor causing bacteria than shampoo.

Use a mild soap so that you don't irritate the area.
