When you are cold, your veins constrict to help you maintain body temperature, so you get less blood flow to your brain.

There are some studies that show that headaches caused by drinking cold water is common in women. The results indicate that active migraine facilitates the perception of forehead pain induced by a cold palatal stimulus (cold water on your soft palet).
An article in Women's Health (I don't recall which issue but it was early last year) quoted NIH as stating drinking cold water can cure headaches. Finally, if I haven't confused you enough, not drinking enough water can also cause headaches. And last but not least, there are studies that show that metals in municipal water can cause headaches as well.

"Should I drink cold water when I have tonsillitis? So,should I drink cold water?" -- You haven't offered up any clue as to why you're asking this. Drink it if it doesn't cause more pain, don't drink it if it does.

Well, that's a good question. It has something to do with your blood vessels actually. The cold makes them constrict and can cause pain in the head.
