This is one of those things that i can relate personaly too. i have what is called an enlarged colon. I dont use the restroom for 3 to 4 days at the time and it used to be, when i was closer to his age, even months. Its not going to kill him but i can say for a fact that its not healthy. not i guess sence this is a reasonable group of people i will jsut say that i also used to and still do somtimes have bowl movements, little ones, but still bowl movements in my pants because it becomes uncontrolable due to the censory things in your butt not working correctly. Personaly i suggest that you take him to a pediatriac doctor and yes it will be a bit uncomfortable for him but he needs to have a rectal exam. this consists of somt things that most people wont want to go in to to much but mainly they make sure his bowls and colon are shaped right and if not then tell him how to hlpe him self. i also suggest useing some type of fibor suplement and cutting way back on the milk products. i realy do feel this is perdy serious and goign through school it can suck because kids are mean. My personal Email is j_mck420@email.com if you have any questions at all. I will answer all your questions to the best of my ability and experiences

Sounds like hypochlorhydria a common condition of inadequate production of hydrochloric acid by the parietal cells in the stomach. Taking antiacids will only make it worse. Better nutrients are needed and digestive enzymes. This can be a serious problem and is usually misdiagnosed. The doctor should be told to check this out because most doctors will say there is too much acid and gives a prescription that will make it worse and not do any tests.

I would consider a second opinion if the doctor hasn't ran any tests. Crohn's disease, or ulcerated colitis are things he needs to be screened for.

I'd be extremely worried if you notice a decrease in his appetite, or any weight loss.

A trick to help children who have bowel movement problems...have the use the toilet facing the back of the toilet. Sounds strange, but the gastroenterologist my sister works for recommends this to every child who has trouble with consitpation. I don't know why it helps, but it does.

Good luck!

He needs to see a doctor that will take the time to check him out more thoroughly. My neighbors daughter has daily stomach aches and has for a long time. They recently tested her more thoroughly and it turns out she has Poly-cystic kidney disease. Generally it's people who are older that have that show up, however, she's only 11 years old. It doesn't have to be that but it wouldn't hurt to get a good check up and rule out anything serious.

I'd keep going to the doctor for checkups untill it does get better or even better take him to another doctor and get a second oppinon.

Reality is that in general doctors know what they are talking about despite what people think

I would suggest getting a second opinion. Take him to another doctor to see what he thinks.
