Anything you send will help. The gift my g/f has sent are wonderful. She send me an IPOD with new music on it. All the stuff I've been listening to is almost a year old.
She sent a couple of memory stick with 2 gigs each of pictures of her, us, home, my dog, my Jeep, the farm. Some video clips (private). She is an artist so she scanned some of her work and added it.
I downloaded on onto my laptop and then filled it with stuff from here and sent it back. Basically anything that will remind him of home and you will be wonderful.

You might want to consider the following:
I would write a scented letter that he can read over and over again when he is missing you and have his favorite scent of you on it to make it more real, as well as, a locket with a picture of you or both of you together, that he can wear and look at whenever he feels like it. Those two things would mean more than anything else you could do for him. Another consideration would be a recording of something you would like to say to him on a microcassette recorder that he can easily keep in his pocket. Reading your words, seeing pictures, and hearing your voice are priceless things that will comfort him and that he can enjoy over and over again.

A meaningful book. A good photo of the two of you together or include his family, too. An mp3 player with lots of music. A beautifully bound small Bible.
Tell him thanks from us.
Once he's there, there are boxes at the Post Office that only cost $8.10 to send. Make sure you find out about those if you're sending stuff. It saves a lot. My nephew is in Ramadi.

If possible, get him a laptop computer since there are adequate wireless connections to support that, and a way to stay in touch. A small digital camera, a bank card to access his account and withdraw funds, lots of Kleenex wipes, a small CD player; any of those things are useful. Personal things like pictures.

A cross and The New Testament in pocket form. May God bless him with a safe return. Tell him he is not only serving the US army but also the rest of Mankind too. I wish you both the very best!

Lets see, if you took a lot of pictures with your boyfriend together, buy a album so you can store all those pictures together in one book and put the date and when it was given and the time...that just might be important to him...=)

How about a masculine neck-chain with a locket on it. Put your picture inside the locket.
