I tried to open it but a dialog box appeared says that it had been disabled.

The same thing happens even when I'm logged in as administrator. I've also tried shutting down computer and restart it again but it didn't work.

How can I get my Windows Task Manager back?

I know that pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delele brings up the Task Manager but my Task Manager has been disabled. How can I enable it or bring it back?

Ill assume the exact message you are getting is;
"Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator"

Start
Run
type (copy & paste) ;

REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\
Policies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /
t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

All on one line, and with no extra spaces.
( This should be one long command. I had to "chop" the command up into shorter pieces, due to Yahoos Java Script implementation of "word wrap", that shortens long lines of text)

This WILL bring back your ability to start Task Manager.

IMPORTANT: If this restriction has been placed on your system without you doing anything, or without your knowledge, then it's highly likely that a Virus has blocked the usage of Task Manager in your system by enabling the restrictions via the registry. I strongly suggest that you perform a thorough checkup of your system.
Many forms of Malware will do this to prevent you from viewing running processes.

Run an Online antivirus scan here;

I think you can get ur Task Manager back by two ways:

1. * Click Start
* Click Run
* Enter gpedit.msc in the Open box and click OK
* In the Group Policy settings window
Select User Configuration
Select Administrative Templates
Select System
Select Ctrl+Alt+Delete options
Select Remove Task Manager
Double-click the Remove Task Manager option
Select Not Configured or Disabled

2. If the first doesnt work I think you have a virus.
Intall new updates for a good antivirus program and Have A Good Time :)

i would recommend scanning your computer with Ad-Aware and Spybot, it's not like your task manager goes missing all the time, ive never heard of that before so maybe its a virus or spyware on your computer. If the scans dont find anything i recommend repairing your windows operating system. You can do this by booting from the windows CD and then following the instructions.. if you get to this point and it still does reappear i would suggest saving all your important files and deleting the partitions on your harddrive... good luck..

If all else fails, pull out the plug, wait a minute then put it back again, when the computer starts up you will get a black DOS screen with a choice at the bottom say in Start up in last good configuration select that one and re-start from there, it should do the trick.

Hi, if you have a virus protection program activated ,and have initiated the task manager on that , then that overrides the windows . Leave it that way your better off.

ctrl, alt, delete keys pushed at the same time bring up my task manager. I've never heard of it being disabled.
