Since Cluster Headaches most after occur shortly after falling asleep because of a drop in serotonin levels would it help to pump tryptophan before falling asleep?

Cluster headaches are thought to be a vascular phenomenon similar to migraines. They do not appear to be related to serotonin levels, although depression is known to alter pain perception making pain appear worse.

Tryptophan is not likely to help someone suffering from Cluster Headaches.

Try:

-Cool/cold shower
-Intranasal lignocaine or co-phenylcaine spray (see if you can find "Stingose" or a similar analgesic spray at the Chemists)
-Oral rehydration - drink about 2L of water gradually - a sip at a time every 5-10 mins.
-Simple analgesics: paracetamol, aspiring
-Talk with your doctor about: sumatriptan or similar medications and about the possiblity of prophylactic medications such as verapamil

Chlorpromazine (usually something that is given in a hospital emergency department for migraines) may be useful.

Some people find melatonin to be helpful. I'm not sure why.
