I'm pretty sure it's an oxymoron... You know - two words that have opposite meanings and make you automatically say.."What?... You've gotta be kidding me. There's nobody that can be 'enlightened' and 'spiritual'.... Ha ha ha ha. ...and like, she's got an 'innie' that sticks 'out' Ha ha ha... and, I'm goin' up to the basement now... Ha ha ha... and lets check on 'military intelligence'.... Ha ha ha..." (cough, cough) "You guys are killin' me here."

Enlightenment is true purpose of your existence. It deals with the care and nurturing of your soul.

Everything you do, everything you say, every thought that enters your mind affects your soul. Therefore, be careful with every thought.

Your soul is nurtured by three things: (1) seeking truth, (2) practicing selfless love, and (3) relishing everything in this world that is beautiful. The enlightened one sees himself as a part of universal beauty and perfection. There is nothing in his world that is without meaning. Everything, even suffering, is seen as having redemptive value.

The term "spiritual enlightenment" is usually found in your Eastern religions, especially Buddhism, where it refers to finding your inner, true self, and letting go of all your earthly desires, which are the cause of your suffering. They say Enlightenment leads to what they call Nirvana, which is not a Seattle-based rock group, but the level of being we attain after we are released from our cycles of earthly life and death. "Nirvana" actually means "extinguishment" like in extinguishing or putting out the flame of desire. I don;t think one has to be Buddhist, or any religion to attain enlightenment though. I think it just means coming to grips with, and being happy with, your place in the universe.

Being able to spell "what" correctly.

Oh wait, you want spiritual enlightenment. Keep looking until you find something, don't believe someone else's dogma, rationalize your beliefs, and find meaning.

It's being completely at peace, being able to meditate and think of absolutly nothing. You give up everything and are completely happy. What a concept!
