If it kills brain cells, damages liver and kidneys, why do people party with it and get drunk and impair decision making?
Why not just drink a virgin version of the drink?
In summary what is the appeal of it, if it mainly has negative effects?
Is it peer pressure? Does a buzz calm you down? Is it a form of rebellion?

I always wondered about this too...
but I have drunk before. It's fun to have one drink socially with friends. I've never understood the appeal of getting drunk.

Drinking allows people to relax, and while it is not the best way to do so, it has been engrained into our society. I'm drunk right now actually. So what's the appeal? It allows me to have fun, though i have fun without it also. It's just a personal choice, and if people (including me) want to impair our decisions and kill brain cells, then that's fine.

Anything is bad when done in excess. Case in point: Vitamin C is great, but can kill you in high doses.
Alcoholism is a disease for many people. Others do it to fit in or self-medicate. You can also overeat for these very reasons.
Alcohol itself is NOT bad, when done responsibly. Some people like the taste of certain alcohol. (I personally cannot stand beer, but I enjoy mixed drinks and wine coolers.) For me, having a drink can ease tension and take the edge off. (Somedays, chocolate does that for me, too! But I think that is just a woman thing.)
The key is KNOWING WHEN TO STOP.

Alcohol helps you to relax and feel really good. The appeal is the wonderful intoxicated state you experience and you couldn't get that from a virgin drink version.

A small amount of alcohol may quiet your nerves, but it still inhibits your coordination. More, and bad things can happen...
Also, some can be beneficial to your heart.
It give me a headache sometimes after just half a drink.

Alcohol is the reason that you, I and everyone else gets laid so easily. It helps you loosen up and feel like partying. It makes people more attractive. It gives girls an excuse to sleep with your sorry @ss. "Oh it was because I was drunk.."

well you see, not alot of ppl do it just to impress other ppl, they found out long ago that its dumb to try and impress other ppl, and if ppl wana drink and destroy their liver and kidneys, thats their business and their problem!!
DRINKING IS GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT!!!
