I think the best thing to give a mother for her birthday is to pay for her a full day at the spa or a gift certificate for a massage. Mothers work hard and that would be a great relaxing gift.

Firstly, your presence & your wishes would be the best gift for ur mother. After that, whatever she likes tried to give her that. Dont think about urself whether u like that also or not. Let her know & feel that u love her & she is the best mom in the world.

Your time. Give her a coupon booklet of things you will do for her which she can redeem whenever she wants. Include thoughtful things like cleaning out her refrigerator, doing her laundry, giving her a manicure/pedicure, weeding her garden, dusting the knick-knacks, cleaning and reorganizing her pantry or her kitchen cabinets.
One of my sons gave me this booklet a few years ago, and it's taken me this long to use up the coupons in it. On the back of each coupon he wrote that he'd do whatever was on the front without complaining, and to my satisfaction.
The nicest thing about this gift idea is it costs no extra money, and you get to spend time with your mother!

A nice picture of you, that is what I would want. I am almost 50, kds are 21 and 26, last year they gave me a coffee mug with a picture of them on it, I still get all mom wierd when I use it...It won't cost you a fortune, which she will like and it will show that you put some thought into it, go with it, we moms love stuff like that!!!...

I made my mum a photo collage on a huge board & had it framed. I used photos from right through her life & from memorable moments - she loved it & its hanging up in her living room, its a priceless gift that is made with a lot of love.
She will adore it!
Happy B'Day To Your Ma! :O)

If she likes to read you could get her a Chicken Soup for the mother's soul book.
