an old friend and i have been talking lately, we realized we both have had crushes on each other, and are very attracted to one another. so he says how amazing the sex is gonna be, ( we are going to meet up, spend some time together to see if what we feel is real) what if i dont measure up to what he has been expecting? what do i do if i get nervous about it at the time?

I think you should relax and not worry about it.
First time with another person for some can be a strange expirience.
Im not talking about having sex for the first time im talking about any similar expirience with someone new.
What i mean is that it will be somthing new and if the first time will not be as you or as he expected if you will continue the connection between the two of you than after a couple of times you will get used to it and than it should be very nice.
One more thing if you really want to satisfy him and if he would like to satisfy you you should while you have sex and by this way you will find out what does he like and he wil find out what do you like.
It will improve the sex.
In the end you will get used to it.

Have you had sex before, either with this guy or with others? Maybe he has had with some girls, and would like to add you to his list? It is better to find out more about the man and his achievements during the past few years you have been away from each other, before plunging into sex with him when you meet him soon.
Size him up properly before you consent to sex, ask him about why he calls his sex amazing (men try to boast about their sexual prowess!), and decide whether he is just interested in sex with you or he is more in your whole personality.

Talk to him. Communication is very important. Don't allow yourself to be put in a situation that you don't see any way out of. Sometimes we change our minds or see things differently than we have done before.
You have to let him know what you feel if it's not what you thought it would feel like before.
