my miniature pincher keeps acting funny. shes shaking and acts like she`s about ready to collapse. she`ll be trying to walk but will be sliding on the tile. shes never done this before and im worried. im not sure if its cause she`s overweight or if its cause she`s old. she wont lie down either, she sits up and falls over and then trys to sit up again, and keeps doing that. but she`s still eating and drinking. should i put her down? i dont want her to suffer.

in my opinion i she is probably just old and a little more fragile i really hate the idea of putting animals to sleep. its like the peopleif it gets to the point were you can see you need to with no regrets it would be for the best. right now i say let her live!
♥♥hope she feels better♥♥

have you check with the vet? You know it may be something treatable , but if shes really old (how old? 13-15?) i dont think overweight will cause that but another kind of infection or disorder. Depending on how long shes being doing it you should really take her to a vet. For now i say try her not to get hurt by leaving hard stuff on where she walks, feed her and give her some love, if she is a miniature i wont be surprise she catched something viral.. Best of luck for you both.

I think you are premature in thinking about putting her down. It sounds like she may have a spine problem that could be anything from a pinched nerve to a slipped disc. It could be neurologica. There are so many possible causes that you will need to take her in for evaluation first. If it is serious your vet will be able to discuss your options with you and help you make the right decision. It could be easily treated or may need serious help and you will have to get all the info before you can make an informed decision.

I wish you the best of luck for her.

I would start by taking her to the vet for a full check up. It may not be as bad as you think. If it's time to put her down, then the vet will probably bring it up, or you can bite the bullet and ask your vet if that something you should consider.

It's very mature of you to realize what you may have to do instead of clinging while the dog may be suffering. I wish you luck.

Most likely siezure disorder and if so a pill twice a day will do wonders for her. I have 2 dogs with siezure disorder and her symptoms sound like theirs.

The person to ask about putting a dog down is your vet not one of these forums.

If that were a child acting as you discribe what would you do? Doctor? Right?

So why, when a dog is acting ill would anyone not think of the doctor first?

I agree with everyone else - definitely let a vet check her out.
I've had to make that decision with several dogs over the years, and one thing I found each time was that if I was struggling to decide, should I or shouldn't I.....it wasn't the time. With every dog, there came a time when I just knew it was the right thing to do. I never want my babies to suffer but when they're still eating and drinking there's still lots of room for hope!!!

First your should take her to her vet and then see what they say, after that make your decision. Dont make the decision to put her down before you find out whats wrong with her, but if there is nothing you can do for her and she is suffering then the most humane thing to do would be to put her down. im sorry, i hope this helps.

Take her to the vet and see what's wrong. Don't jump to the final solution first. I had a cocker that had a stroke and seizures. He had lots of skin problems, yucky ears and was stinky. He lived for 8 years after and improved steadily. I found that by giving him a fish oil pill and lots of good food he was a happy dog for those years. One of his worst times, he was screaming and his hind legs didn't work.I thought the big dog jumped on him and hurt his back. We got to the vet and he tried to bite her when she checked his hind end. It was his anal glands bothering him! We got that taken care of and he was fine in minutes. You don't know until the vet checks her.

Go to the vet and find out what's wrong. Keep her where she won't slip and keep her warm.

take her to the vet first.... My dog started that shaking too couple of weeks ago and everytime he does it it looks like he's gonna faint.... I totally forgot to mention the vet last week.... Thank x for reminding me.... If she is eating and drinking just let her live.... if she was in pain she would be crying... I just lost my puppy and feel horrible about losing my older dog.... Love her until she is around... and remember you can take care of her... she can't go to the vet on her own...
