I don't think i've had many dogs that hasn't chased one! we've had numerous over the years.

My dog loves laser pointers. My roommate's dog is obessed with the laser! We just say laser and he starts prancing, and if you pick up a pen that looks even remotely like the laser pointer he goes nuts. He stares at the jar that he knows the laser is kept in when he wants it. We had to hide it in a closet eventually.

I haven't seen that many dogs that would chase flashlights! Or laser pointers even. Now cats are a different matter.

This is simply prey drive in the dog. It's the natural instinct of the dog as a preditory animal to chase down prey and catch it.

My dog used to do that when he was puppy, but once he got older, he quit. Now, cats are the worst for following lights. I've only met a few who wouldn't. Vive la difference!
