I feel a little embarrassed I do not know this one. I know they all use Sunoco fuel, I just never thought what type of oil they use. Does each team pick their oil? Or does NASCAR choose thier oil for them?

They use whatever brand of oil they want. Sometimes they'll have an oil sponsor that stipulates what product they use.

Don't read too much into that whole "Official Product of NASCAR" stuff either. These companies are just paying NASCAR to associate themselves with NASCAR and get people to buy their products.

That's like paying someone to be your friend, just so people can think you're as cool as the guy you're paying.

they all use different oils. as you can see each week different teams have different oil sponsers. i'm pretty sure havoline would object to the car they sponser using valvoline or quaker state. so it's normally separated by each team.. if you look at the paint schemes you'll usually find a sticker with the oil brand on it somehwere.

i've been surfing online more than 4 hours today seeking the answer to the same question, and I haven't found a more interesting debate like this. It's pretty worth enough for me.
