Hey there,

I own a Siberian Husky and I am heavily involved with the breed. I know a lot of great husky breeders and I can promise you right now that it is not worth buying a husky from anywhere. The only place you should ever buy a Sibe from is a registered breeder. Your Sibe doesn't have to be a show dog, but it should come with papers. Many breeders will sell a dog to you for less if they know it is only going to be a pet and not a show dog. We paid $800 for my Sibe and he came with papers. He was worth every cent because four years later he has not had a single health problem.

"A normal" Sibe is a purebred one. If a Sibe wasn't purebred, it would be crossed with another dog - purebred simply means that the dog is PURE Siberian Husky. I think what you mean is you want a Sibe as a pet and not a show dog. That's fine, but still go to a good, registered, reputable breeder.

I don't know how much research you have done on Sibes but as a Sibe owner I can promise you they are NOT for everyone. I would probably not recommend a Sibe to anyone who hasn't had a dog before. They are a lot of work, they are very intelligent but they are not easy to train. You can never ever let your Sibe walk off lead, he will not come back on command. You have to be the boss 24/7. The best thing to do is to call and speak to lots of breeders so they can evaluate whether or not this is the best breed for you.

Please, if you are definately going to buy a Sibe make sure it comes from a good breeder, WITH papers. Or save one from the shelter :)

Around $1000 - $2000 for a purebred with papers from a reputable breeder (pet quality).
$1500-$3000 for a purebred, show quality Husky from a reputable breeder.

Around $500-$700 without papers.
