Depends where you live.. The Coat of the Dog... and... wether your dog will wear it! If your dog was hairless and lived oput side definitly. but if her had a good coat and was out side no as when you put a coat on a dog that has hair you wreck the natural protection that the hair did give. Also I have 5 Jacki Russell and I don't think a coat would lat long as they would find it much fine undressing each other and then ripping the coat apart ha ha!

I have a small dog and a larger dog and they both wear coats in the winter. They also have sweaters they wear in the fall and spring. I figure if I get cold, so do they.

Whether they need one depends on the breed and kind of hair/fur they have and how cold it is outside.
I have several dogs with little hair and if it is under 30 outside I put a sweater on them. If it under 10 I put a warmer dog coat on them. It definetly has made a difference in their wililngness to go outside in the cold for a potty break.
If your dog has think fur and it is over 25 then it should be fine for a few minutes.

I have an Italian greyhound, and they have hardly any hair and almost no body fat. When it is cold outside I do have to put a jacket on him because of this, this type of dog was bred to be a indoor pet. If your dog has a very short coat I would recommend it.

I actually have 2 short-haired mini-dachshunds, both about 11 pounds. I positioned both a sweater or a coat on them at the same time as it truly is chilly and they ought to flow outside. I also positioned one on them no matter if that is raining. i imagine it truly is had to maintain them from getting unnecessarily chilly. If I, a grown human, am chilly, my dogs will honestly be chilly in the adventure that they are 10 cases smaller than me and decrease to the floor. in the course of the fall at the same time as it begins to get chilly, i am going to positioned a sweater on them if I observe them shivering presently after being out. contained in the wintry climate, they don't flow outside with out some thing on. for his or her feet, i purchased a wax that you be conscious to the pads of their paws. It protects them from snow, warmth, salt, sand...really some thing that could reason an abrasion or soreness. it truly is pronounced as Musher's Wax and it develop into initially advanced for the sled-pulling dogs. it truly is non-staining and it rather works rather properly. with reference to the concept no dogs favor coats because they're animals, that doesn't carry at the same time as they're very small dogs who've been deliberately bred for his or her small length. Wolves and massive breed dogs with thick hair do not favor an more beneficial layer of danger-free practices, yet small dogs do.

Hi there,
not all small dogs need to wear coats
like pomeranians for example are completely find without them.
Dogs like chihuahua's and italian greyhounds get cold quit easily and it is nice for them to have something to keep them warm in the winter.
My rule of thumb is (i'm a dog trainer), if they are shivering outside, the definately need a coat!
If they seem fine... don't bug them with one.
I tried to get one for my sheltie and he looked at me like i was out of my mind when I put it on him lol.

That depends. If they are long haired, they should be fine. If they are short haired, it's EXTREMELY cold out, or you've done something to modify their coat (cutting a long haired dogs really short) then sure, do whatever you can to keep them warm.

I don't think so if it is a long hair dog, their fur is enough to keep them warm... though if it is a short hair dog, I would recommend giving some clothes for them, but or a really big warm dog bed.
Usually doggy clothes aren't nesessary, just really adorable...lol

My cat has one and she doesnt go out much but we dress her when we take her out in the cold, specially if they are getting older, because they can get arthritis just like humans. If they are babies as long as you dont let them shake for too long is alright
