I get very thirsty and I travel on long transatlantic flights often. Now that I can't bring my own water I have to depend on the crew for water. They get angry if I ask for a whole bottle of water. What have your experiences been?

When you get on the plane, tell a member of the crew (that looks the most welcoming and nice) what your problem is and tell him/her that you will need many cups of water during the flight. I'm sure then he/she will understand.

I have a different problem, I have a son with aurism and when we travel he needs treats and juice and stuff that I cannot carry with me anymore on the flight so when I am making the reservation (I think it applies for a few airlines only, like air France and Emirates and Gulf Air), I tell them the problem and my needs (they point it out on the ticket) and once in the plane the crew members take a look at my ticket and they know what to do without me saying a thing.

Good Luck to you

Actually, I even asked for warm water, since I was shivering from the AC (I think it was because I had a cold and allergies at the time)

The flight attendant was very nice and even heated it in a lidded cup and asked me if I needed more. Now, only if every flight attendant was like that...

They are there to provide that service for its passengers. So either get your bottle after the security check or explain your situtation to the cabin crew and ask them if you could get a bottle or water..

Curious as to what airline?

The worst I have gotten is a slight eyeroll. You could always threaten to drink the stuff out of the bathroom and become violently ill all over them

You can buy water inside the security gate prior to boarding the plane. Here are some Web sites with security gate information:
