I am not black but I still would like to apply.
If I went ahead and applied for a black scholarship are they going to actually look at my skin and not award it to me for being white?

Please help

Thank you

It's true thousands of dollars in scholarship funds goes unclaimed each year, even with organizations like the United ***** fund. In my college there is a student who got a scholorship from the United ***** fund and he's mexican. So you can still apply for it regardless of your skin color, the only time I think applying for it while not being black would come back to bite you in the butt would be if you were to go into politics, but other then that you should be fine.

Thousands of dollars in scholarship money go unclaimed each year because no one applies for them. Try applying for a whole lot of smaller scholarships- you're much more likely to get them than you are to get a black scholarship which a lot of REAL black people will be competing for as well.

The ***** Scholarship Fund was founded in an era when few, if any, black people could go to college due to segregation, laws, money, and the long-term effects of racism.

Those programs should die, and no doubt will when all agree that black people have the same chances as white people. IF you think we've reached that point, then yes, you should advocate that these scholarships should die.

that doesnt make sense.

besides, you can get any scholarship no matter what your skin color is. you just need to fufill the requirements to actually get the thing.

There are tons that do not decide on skin color at all.
None that I know of for simply "being white", but plenty that don't eliminate you based on ethnicity.
