Awwwww.... Probably normal. Think of what she is going thru now. Away from Momma and with strangers. Poor little thing. Give her a little time to warm up and adjust to her new surroundings and people.

I have two and they are both very playful but it is easy to tell that just like people they both of unique personalities. One is constantly hyper and playful while the other one is more sly and likes to play hunter/prey with the other one by sneaking up behind him. Yours may just take a bit longer to get comfortable but once she is, look out it will keep a smile on your face for hours. I bet she is a beauty. Is she a golden hair or a red hair golden retriever. I prefer the golden ones but I have one of each.

Yes, its normal! But dont worry she get very energetic soon! When i was thinking about getting a golden retriever i thought that i should probably get a puppy that was quite and shy out of the litter and thats what i did. But after a few months of being shy, my puppy was so energetic and jumping around, always wanting to play and a bit loopy!! :) and im pretty sure your puppy will too!! They are beautiful dogs:) hope this helps!!

It's pretty normal to be shy or spooky when they are in new surroundings. What happens is it takes a little while to get used to not having their mother and siblings around. Dogs are taught almost from birth about the security and safety of the PACK and when they are brought away from the pack that they have always known from birth into another pack which is you and your family they will suffer some separation anxiety. It takes the new pup a few days to start to build a bond of trust with it's new pack. He may even not want to eat for a couple of days until he starts to get used to his new surroundings and his new pack. Just be patient he'll soon be running around and playing in no time. The best thing to do right now is show him alot of affection and praise. This will help him bond even quicker.

Yes, it is very normal. If she is only 8 weeks old she is really just beginning her socialization.
Try to speak gently to her at all times and do not get angry at her for anything. Supply plenty of toys and sit on the floor and play with her.
You will start to see her true personality begin to show in 2 weeks and even more at 16 weeks. 16 weeks is when a lot of pups come out of their shells.

Also, after she has had her entire distemper vaccinations, (3 rounds), enroll her in a puppy class where they can run around and play with other puppies in a safe and supervised environment.

Some dogs are just shy no matter the breed. If you have only had her a short amount of time she may just be taking a bit of time to come out of her shell. If she is very young this may be the reason also, they become more playful at around 4 months.
