What was it that he saw , that finally made him believe? The Bible does not say. But if you know the burial customs of the day you can guess at what he saw. When they prepped someone for burial they wrapped the body in a mummy like state, with the linnens soaked in oils and spices for preservation. What he must have saw was of course an empty tomb, and the burial cloths laying there in a perfect cocoon like shape. No cut marks that someone could have cut Jesus' body out of and removed his body, but a perfect hull in the shape of his body. There could be no other explanation of how this could have happened except for a spiritual ressurection.
