I am 16 and attend church every sunday. I believe in god and jesus but sleep the whole hour through mass. It is so boring or at least the priests at my parish make it boring. The songs are written funny (i only sing during the christmas mass i like the xmas songs), i dont understand what the priest is talking about in the homily, and i dont feel as if i am in a holy place. Basically i think going to sunday mass is a waste because i dont leave with anything or feel any better about my bond with god after i leave. Does anyone else feel this way?

I'll be frank with you, you don't get it simply because it isn't all about you. Mass is not about you being entertained. I think many young people feel like you regardless of which Christian community they belong to. It isn't a matter of changing churches because if you are looking to be entertained eventually you'll leave that new group also or simply drift into a false idea of what Christian worship is all about.

The Christian Mass although you can't see it now is the highest form of Christian worship. Non-catholics don't get it simply because they've been taught to reject it. You've mentioned on another question the Church doesn't take the OT literally well possibly because it isn't written entirely in a "literal" form. If you would be listening at Mass you'd realise however that the OT is not simply ignored as the Mass readings will be from both the OT and NT.
Not sure how serious you are but I'll assume you are for real for now. I do sense you've been influenced by outside sources you preach anti-Catholicism don't let them confuse you, Catholicism is the original Christian Church but you'll have to discover this on your own lets hope it's a short journey.

I'm assuming that the Mass you attend isn't the only scheduled Mass at your church. If it isn't, then I highly suggest you attend a LifeTeen Mass. The music is much more upbeat, the homily tends to be more lively, and it is altogether a nicer experience for the younger crowd. If that doesn't work or if your church doesn't offer that sort of Mass, I'd suggest you try another church in the Diocese.

I did and that is why I left the Catholic Church.
I now attend an Assembly of God Church.
If you have a desire to know more about God may I suggest you find a Church that fits what you are looking for. The decision is up to you. If you believe in praying then you should pray and ask for guidance where you should attend Church.
God's blessings!

I have never liked going to church. I agree with you. It is boring. I do love Christmas services! If you feel you need to go to church every sunday, maybe you should check around for a church that suits you better. If you are getting nothing out of it, what is the point in going? You are not assured a spot in heaven by parking it in a pew on sunday.

each and every time on Sunday is fantastic for Sunday Mass. it may also be on Saturday evening, to fulfill the Sunday Mass criminal responsibility. it truly is because liturgically, Sunday begins the evening earlier.

There's so much miraculous stuff going on at Mass, that it really is difficult to appreciate.

For starters, the Mass is God's eternal fulfillment of the Jewish Passover, in the very person of Jesus Christ, "the lamb who was slain before the foundation of the world".

The Mass is also the definitive new covenant sacrifice for sin, and the fulfillment of one of the most obscure, but also most important, old testament prophecies:

Malachai 1:11 For from the rising of the sun even to the going down, my name is great among the Gentiles, and in every place there is sacrifice, and there is offered to my name a clean oblation: for my name is great among the Gentiles, saith the Lord of hosts.

The Mass is the one place on earth that we physically encounter Jesus Christ "in the flesh" ... not just spiritually, as all the other Christians groups do.

When the priest recites the words of consecration ... the same words Jesus used at the Last Supper ... by the power of the Holy Spirit, Christ himself becomes truly and substantially present for us on the altar.

From that point forward, it's really Christ who conducts the Mass ... not the priest alone.

Just before the "great amen" when the priest holds up the conscrated host and the precious blood of Christ, and chants, “Through him, with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, almighty Father, for ever and ever.” is where the real power of the Mass is concentrated.

Very simply, at that moment, we collectively offer to God, the perfect and spotless sacrifice of his divine son, Jesus. The one, and very same sacrifice that was present 2000 years ago, at Calvary.

Presented with a sacrifice such as this, God looks, not on our sinfullness, but on our faith in his divine son, and he (once again) blesses us ... instead of condemning us ... and the world gets to exist for another day!

It is here that Jesus also acts as our advocate and our mediator with his Father, obtaining whatever we truly need from God, for us.

Shortly after this, thanks to Jesus, we claim his Father as our own, and then we rejoice in the supernatural state of peace which exists, due to Christ alone, between God and sinful mankind.

This is the very same "peace" that the angels proclaimed the night Jesus was born.

Moments later, at communion time, we receive Jesus in a most personal, substantial, and sacramental manner ... and Jesus does not come to us "empty-handed".

Suitably prepared, and provisioned by God himself, through the Mass and Christ's holy church, we're blessed once more, and are then commanded to go out and do God's work in the world.

So, it's no coincidence that there is a Mass being celebrated somewhere in the world, every hour of every day.

And it's no wonder God expects every Catholic to faithfully celebrate Mass with him, as least every Sunday and every holy day.

Failing to attend ... or to fully participate ... we forego God's necessary grace and blessings, and we risk God's eternal judgment ... by default.

One more thing ... everything we see and experience at Mass, here on earth, is also simultaneously occuring in heaven, in the presence of God, and including all the angels and saints, but in a much more spectacular way.

So every Mass is truly a celebration of the ENTIRE universal church, both on earth and in heaven, and every Mass unites ALL the righteous ones of God, from every generation, in Jesus Christ.

It doesn't get any better than that!

Now, go in peace, to love and serve the Lord!

I recommend reading some books by Dr. Scott Hahn. If you knew all that was actually going on at the Mass, you would not be bored. It is the most sublime thing in the world.

when we don't understand what is being said or don't connect to it (i've been there), then it;s hard to stay focused on the reason for being there in the first place. Instead of sleeping, try to pick a saying of Jesus' or the Our Father, close your eyes and repeat it over and over again. Try to make a connection with Jesus and God on a personal level. i mean, try talking to Them like They were right there with you.

Belief in God and Jesus isn't all there is. Until Jesus becomes your personal savior, and you understand that God came to the earth as a man, to become the sacrifice for your sins, so that you can be forgiven and live forever with Him, only then will you want to worship and serve Him.

You are probably board with religion. Religion is man's way of trying to reach and please God. Jesus is God's way of reaching down to man.

Read your bible and learn about Jesus and of God's love for you. I would suggest that you read Romans, Corinthians and, Ephesians. They are helpful to me.
