Tell the truth. Lying only gets you into more trouble. You may think that you'll get away with it but, more than likely, the truth will surface at some point.
I know as a person I would rather hear a painful truth than a deceitful lie. The level of trust never goes down when you tell the truth. The moment you lie however, gives reason for mistrust.

I would tell the truth, I think it's better to be honest with someone and show trust than lie...

depends on situation: lying to make someone feel better is good like the famous line "does this dress make me look fat?" asner: no, you like beautiful, but really its gross
telling the truth is good too, honesty is the key to a relationship.

there is many good things about telling the truth.
For one you don't have to keep thinking of lies to cover your lies.
The truth is easy to tell because it is easy to remember.
