They have bad breath and have less energy. I can't afford to take them to the vet if it's just a cold that they will get over. But if anyone knows if these are symptoms of something worse please tell me.

I took one to the vet this morning. $200 to find out it is not serious. Peace of mind, I guess. The symptoms are also symptoms for something else that can be deadly. They gave her some antibiotics and told me to buy "little noses" nasel drops for human babies. It worked great on all of them.

Sounds like a simple cold. One thing that will help even them is a humidifier. You can do a steam shower with them to help break up the congestion but if you do, don't do it longer than 7-10 minutes because they will get hot very fast with all of that hair. It will help them breathe better though. If they don't show signs of improving in a few days, I'd call the vet and ask what to do. It doesn't sound serious though, my cats have had colds before.

You need to get them to a vet the sooner the cheaper. The symptoms you are describing could be the start of Upper Respiratory infection. I have seen cats with this get worse fast. Are they eating? If they have never had any shots and go outside there is a good chance they may of even picked up distemper. mouth breathing in cats is not a good sign.

I'm not really sure if it will go away it may be another virus in the air. I dont know how many you have but here's an idea. Take one only and ask your doctor if he can sell you more medicine only to take it to the rest of them and make sure the same one is good for all (hopefully he is nice enough) and deal with it that way because you really wanna know what exactly is going on. I had my cat for 7 years now and she never had flu , i've seen it but dont really know how it works. good luck

Cats can get upper respiratory infections that can be deadly. It would be up to you if you want to risk it just being a cold. You can call a vet and see if they will give you recommendations.

If they are breathing through their mouths then you need to take them to the vet. Call around, look for a "cat care" center or animal hospital that will take installment payments. When you took them in, you make a lifetime committment to take care of them. Sorry, been where you are... but usually some vet somewhere will work with you.

PS you might want to change your user name:)

Maybe you can make payments to the vet. They could have upper respiratory infection.
