He's a very energetic dog who doesn't listen very well. He is, however, only 9 months old. He also likes to go into the bathroom garbage and eat kleenex......yuck. Will getting him fixed help these problems? I do intend to get him fixed within the next week or so regardless of whether this will help the problems or not. He really is a test of patience somedays. I love him to bits, though. He's a pretty cool dog all in all, but just needs a lot more attention than I can afford. My girlfriend and I are really trying to make him listen. I really need to get him to some obedience classes. I hope I can find one here after Christmas. I know I'm starting to babble on about this, but I do this when I'm tired and boy does he tire me out.

Lol about the last part, oh man can I relate! However, I don't think fixing him will help the problem, but you are smart to do it anyway. Just be careful because he may split the stitches when dealing with the cats, but until then, I suggest walks. My dog is a complete jerk in almost every possible way if we don't take him out for a walk because he has too much excess energy. Obediance should also help and maybe get the dog and cats to be calm around eachother. If you can, get him super tired, then bring in one of the cats as he's about to fall asleep. Now I'm babbling.

I'll try not to babble, too, but I make no promises. :) My beagle is like this. Selective hearing!

Getting him fixed might or might not help a little, but it's still a good idea. The obedience classes will really make a difference, though. Now mine listens at least half the time. :)

Can you maybe find a way to give the cat a private spot? Maybe put a baby gate in the bathroom doorway? (The cat can get over it easily and escape the dog. It might also help with his icky Kleenex habit. :D

Ask nature to change her Laws. And while you are at it, ask nature to stop lions from eating meat, or dropped objects from falling down.
