I have a tendancy to fall asleep watching tv or get going in the morning and forget to turn it off before leaving for work. I just got this tv as an early Christmas present today so I'm not that familiar with everything yet. That's why I asked the question

No it will not. New LCD backlights will be half-bright in about 60,000 hours, more than 20 years at 8 hours a day, so don't worry, the TV will last a long time!!

However, yourTV's remote has a probably a SLEEP button. You can use it to automatically set the TV to shutdown after 30 min, 1 hr, or maybe more. Set it up before you start feeling sleepy and the TV will turn off by it self.

it wont hurt it if its a continius moving pic, they can suffer pixel burn out if they stay on one image for ages.
