I have said it before. It does not make a difference legal or illegal.
Gringos have been hating Mexicans for over a 100 years.Do you really think they are going to stop hating just because you say it is not right.Even some legal Mexicans in the USA now hate illegal aliens. I bet they do not have brown skin.
Pepe, why do you act like it is something new to you.Mexicans with white skin hate brown skin Mexicans in Mexico.

There are many ignorant people in this world, who form an opinion based on what they hear and not what really is. Its just like many people thinking that Mexicans are the only illegal people in the US. They tend to ignore the fact that the Latino community-illegal or not- is made up of many different races. Puerto Ricans, Salvadorians and so on. And lets not forget that there are also other races that have come from Europe that are also illegal. People base their opinions on what they hear, what is advertised and not on reality. Another example is that many people see Mexicans and think that they have to be brown, with dark hair and dark eyes. I am full blooded Mexican, have light hair, light brown eyes and very light skin, but that doesn't make me any more Mexican. My siblings all have blue and green eyes. So basically it all goes back to the ignorance that these people posses.

So many people in the U.S. are ignorant and prejudice. They want to blame all of their problems on a group of people. I work with a lot of Mexicans who speak Spanish most of the time. Everyone thinks they are illegal just because they choose to speak Spanish. Another girl at work speaks Russian and everyone just thinks it is the neatest person. She is illegal and no one seems to mind. A lot of people have it in there heads that Mexicans legal or illegal are taking all of their jobs and that Americans are paying for their healthcare. My opinion is that Mexicans are used to working hard for everything that they get and a lot of other people want to work as little as they can and get payed a whole lot. And for all of you reading this who think by name that I am Mexican, I AM NOT. I just believe that any who wants to come to America and works hard deserves to be treated with respect. The problem of predjudice and hatred can't be solved on ANSWERS and more hated will be stirred up as long as prejudice news stations make it news.

I don't think that everyone thinks they are all illegal, but most illegal aliens are from Mexico. Keep one thing in mind, the Immigration Service has two listings for illegal aliens (and keep in mind that there are illegal aliens from many countries), anyway here is their listing for deportation and holding and removing from the country.
1 - Mexican
2 - OTM (Other than Mexican)
That is the extent of their listing. So, what does that tell you???

Because ignorance exist just like some of the content in these responses.
I believe stereotypes derive from fifty percent of a person's influences (family to TV) to fifty percent of their experiences. Of course if varies from person to person, only thing we can do as Latin Americans is keep the public informed in hopes to change false opinions.
I'll have to admit some are surprisingly funny; Some believe what they say.
Regardless of the situations, We live in dangerous times. We do have to be extra careful of who we let in the United States these days.
The real question is, is it Apprehension or Racism?
No answers, just more questions.

The media is being pushed by the corporations to take the spotlight off of them, shipping a million high paying jobs out of the country, and unfortunatly the simple minded americans are busy whining about mexicans while the corps are sloshing them up the rear....

Its easy to spot the illegals.
They dont speak english and they drive extremely slow below the speed limit here in California, to avoid getting pulled over and questioned.

Because the lines have become so blurred between legal and illegal immigrants. In my area, illegal immigrants are quite bold. They do nothing to conceal the fact that they are here illegally. Thousands of illegal immigrants protested immigration enforcement, and nobody swooped down to pick them up and dump them back across the border.
To dispel this image, the best thing that LEGAL Mexican immigrants can do is to further uphold the immigration laws by distancing themselves from the illegals.

..whoever said that we necessarily assume ALL Mexicans are illegals? I can tell pretty well which ones are legal and not by their jobs and whatnot..but it is an easy thing to conclude someone is an illegal when they dont know any english, work horrible jobs, and look poor.

Because a higher relative percentage of Mexicans in America are illegal, moreso than any other race. In other words, if you sample a population (in America) of whites, blacks, Mexicans, etc., there is a greater chance of finding illegal aliens in the Mexican sample than in any other race.
Sorry, but stereotypes usually have their reasons...
