give her a cheap gift for her birthday.

Maybe she doesn't have a lot of money? In itself, a cheap gift doesn't mean much. What else is going on with her and you? I guess she could have meant it as an insult, but maybe she really thought what she gave you would please you.

Need more info to figure this one out.

can't you consider her financial status (at the time) man? she probably was broke and that's the best thing she can afford. don't you feel special enuf that she remembered to buy you a gift? she remembered (ur bday) and i guess that's the thing that count most. u'd rather like it than sum1 who bought u expensive gift but failed to greet you personally (as if it's ur bday, so what, buy him sumthing costly and done!). man, it's the thought that counts.

She's either broke or is a bad gift giver or she isn't that into you.

cheap as in price = who cares about price its the thought

cheap as in she knows you dont like it = she bought it for herself not you or shes too lazy to think of something you would like.

I means you her what you could afford and since its suppose to be the thought that counts, it shouldn't matter, right?

she thought of you and she's not foolish about throwing away money. Why should the value be of importance to you? Thought that counts.
