A man and his 12 year old son are driving to see a football game when they are involved in a serious car accident. The man is pronounced dead on arrival at hospital, his son is alive with serious head injuries. He is rushed to surgery where the hospital's best brain surgeon is called. After taking one look at the boy the surgeon says "i'm afraid you will have to get someone else to operate, this boy is my Son".

The boy's mother is the surgeon. I've heard that one before. It's a favorite of mine.

this joke points out the how stereotyped some jobs are... most ppl just assume the surgeon (or nurse as i've heard in other versions) is male.

Yes I heard it before many yrs ago.It is a good one you can tell it to younger ppl and have them juggle their brain to figure out it is the mother that is the surgeon

It's the mother. Old one - was more effective back in the 70's when there weren't many women doctors :)
