Does anyone know if seroquil or depkote (anti depressants) for bi-polar are supposed to make you highly irritable upon awakening. Im knocked out so hard when I wake up Im really mean and irritable,in the morning anything sets me off anyone knwo anything about this?

Seroquil can make YOU closed to ALL emotion , not just sadness. If you are new to the medicines then give it a few days to level off in your body. KNOW that the meds are causing the mood and DO NOT act out the anger. Call your doc on Monday and tell him how the meds make you feel.

Yes for the seroquel for being very very irritable. And that's not all. I was on Seroquel from July until September and not only was a real BEAR to live with but I also gained 30 pounds in that time. When I got up in the doctors face about it he said yes irritability and weight gain are side affects of seroquel. I don't take it any more and I have been able to lose 12 pounds so far but I'm still really ticked that they didn't tell me about the side affects. I wish you better luck than I had with it.

I can't say as a doctor;but I also take seroquil for bipolar and I am waking up pretty mean also.bipolar sucks I can not keep anyone I am supposed to love

I take tegretol it used to treat some of the same illnesses as the one you're talking about. I'm irritable all the time with or without meds. It probably got to with your illness more than what you're taking possibly. Tell your doctor about it.

Your pharmacist may have a better idea than your Dr. He or she should know all the side effects and indications of it.
