I think you're right , and it's a real shame.
I have lots of American friends and they're lovely people. But many people in Europe seem to assume all Americans are gun-toting, mindless, and liable to invade any other country at a moment's notice on the slimmest of pretexts.
So I guess people dislike Amercian imperialism, but let's not take it out on individual Americans - a lovely friendly bunch in my experience.

Depends. Americans (or more precisely, the citizens of United States) are so divided, between the extremist right republicans and the more moderate democrats. Mind you that Bush won last election just with small majority.
Even the republicans are quite divided, between the 'old' traditional republicans who value small government and fiscal responsibilities and the religious evangelical nuts who think that US should go back to the Puritan theocratic society, you know, those in the 18th century Victorian values.
Since the current government is the extremist right republicans, with Bush really thought God really chose him to lead US, it is no wonder so many people hate America.
Personally, I so disagree with the evangelical nuts, and Bush administration policies which is based on arrogance and unfounded self-righteousness, and the dichotomy of good vs evil policies. I thought the years during Clinton was so much better.
So, I do not dislike the moderate US people who has sense of what is going on in this world, and not arrogant. But unfortunately, half of Americans are, well, almost blind, judging from the last 2004 Election. Nevertheless, the recent mid-term election shows that people there are waking up, hopefully this will lead to a more reasonable government and policies from the US.

i do not imagine some thing of the international is jealous, even with the truth that i have self belief they have numerous different emotions. a number of unbelief that it must be authentic the freedom and issues we've, or the inability of thankfulness we've. Then others income from the life they have that does no longer deliver the disappointment that some have right here at the same time as they imagine riches are each thing, which they are not. Wealth does no longer deliver happiness, even though it constructive can helps once you're at the different end of the spectrum. I do imagine an excellent type of individuals are conceited at the same time as they are vacationing different international places and act as if they imagine they are more desirable effective. it is genuine unhappy. we are so blessed and we ought to continuously stumble on common strategies to share what we've.

No I don't dislike Americans. My brother lives in Atlanta, and whenever I have gone to visit, I have experienced nothing but real hospitality and politeness. I also serve a lot of Americans at the checkout, and they have always been friendly and polite.
If anything is at fault, it is the education system, and what they have for TV, as they seem to be unaware of other cultures and what is happening outside.
Before we start America bashing, try to think what the rest of the world think of the British after seeing how they behave on holiday!

When I lived there I thought the people were really nice and welcoming. I had a brilliant 3 years working there and made a lat of good friends. I would agree with the people above who said that it's really current American foreign policy and the way some America businesses conduct themselves abroad that some people don't like.
Sorry to disagree with you twice in one day..... (seriously).
Do you mind if I ask you, "Do Americans think that the rest of the world dislike them?"
I'm not being funny with you mate, I'd really like to know because I've always thought the media tended to play on it too much.

Gee, thanks for lumping us all together like that. Isn't it swell that every single American has exactly the same thoughts and opinions and fits into the stereotype so neatly?
Has it every occurred to you that there is a balance of good and bad in all people and all nations for that matter? What nation or nationality has a clean record? The answer is none. The Chinese, British all Europeans and the Japanese have all been involved in quite a few unpopular and misguided wars themselves. Most Americans do not like the US foreign policy either - we are trying to fix that.
But go ahead and judge if it makes you feel better. Why get to know anything after all? Just repeat what you have been taught by your leaders and media. Oh wait, that's what Americans are supposed to be like.
Sorry to be so cranky, but the repetition of this baiting question is getting annoying.
By the way, feel free to judge our leaders as harshly as you like - we do. They weren't actually elected by us anyhow. It's just stupid to lay this at the door of "Americans" in general.

An international poll put America as the worlds most disliked nation and the greatest threat to world peace.
But it's really America's foreign policy that's unpopular, not the ordinary citizens.
The people are nice, but don't have a clue about what's going on in the world, because they're fed propaganda

I don't believe it is actually Us citizens the world hates. I think it is the politics that is now in office that has no remorse for anything or anyone that stands in its way. I do not travel overseas but live close to Canada ( Which does have bad feelings for our government) the people I meet have been very nice but willing to speak their mind against our government which I do not disagree. We can only hope that change is coming.... maybe not soon enough but soon. Every society has it downfall we cannot expect the USA to always be the strong. We must hope it never comes down to men and their toys!

Why? For me, showing double standards in the Middle East is a big no-no. The rest of the world was, is and will be watching. Be fair and play fair. It is very tough to do so though, especially in politics. By the way, I believe the world is heading towards a nuclear holocaust. The world would be overcome by fire, and not by water, as stated in the Bible's Book of Revelation. As the years pass us by, more and more countries will have nuclear capabilities. May God have mercy on us all.
