The bible is a book written by humans and is capable of being wrong. It is a book of beliefs, written at a time when there was very little knowledge of the world and universe around them. So they invented god to fill in the gaps. The bible also says that the Earth is about 6,000 years ago and the creator of the universe looks human. If the bible said 2+2=5 then everyone would believe that to be true. An event that happened 2,000 years ago, which only source of evidence is the bible, then it very likely the 500 people was probably 1. Just like the story of when catch a fish "this big" and years later the fish grows and the story grows.

When Jesus rise from the dead, he said he will come once again to take his faithful followers with him to heaven. And since then, people have been waiting for over a century, and I guess mankind are etting tired of waiting for His secong coming and they have no spiritual interest anymore, some people even said that Jesus is just a myth.
If you would like to know what will happen to the world before Jesus's second coming, read the Revelation book carefully. There are a lot of hidden message in it about what will happen to non-believers.

No evidence = no god
The ONLY evidence you have is a book written 2000 years ago by unidentified authors who were religious zealots with an agenda. That is a horrible source. There is NO documentation from the Romans to back up the story from the same time and the Romans loved documentation. It is at the very least obvious the Romans were not impressed.
Charlie Manson thinks he is god too. There is as much reason to believe him.

Your Bible study teacher has no evidence for that. Did you even think to ask for any? If I told you that someone I knew had arisen from the dead, and that he was the son of God and, oh by the way, he wants you to obey the following rules...
Would you just take my word for it? Of course not. You would demand some sort of proof. You shoud demand the same proof from your Bible study teacher. And the proof must be external to the Bible. The Bible cannot prove itself. If I write a book making all kinds of outrageous claims, I can't just point to the book itself and say, "Look, there's the proof!"

They first have to believe the Bible before believing that 500 saw Jesus after the resurrection.

I don't believe in God. I never said I don't believe in Jesus. He cuts my lawn every week.
If you are talking about that guy who died on the cross two thousand years ago I believe in him too. I just don't believe he was God. I don't really believe he thought he was either. If five hundred people said they saw him rise from the dead on the third day there were five hundred liars. Makes a lot more sense than saying he is God. God bless you too. xx

I read your question. Why? I also read the answers given to your question. One comment, and question to those who have answered with nasty remarks. To your question. I have never heard the 500 witnesses on the third day. However a multitude did witness his arisen state after. To you who have hateful remarks. Have any of you really studied the Holy Bible? Not just part of it but the whole? It is easy to blaspheme the word when you have no idea the context of the work. It's more difficult to blaspheme after diligent study. After all, If the Bible is true and Christ gave his life for you and you die without him in your life, rejecting him, where will you spend eternity? What do you have to lose by learning all you can about Him and his gift to you?
May God bless you all,

ya tell me where is says 500 people, its a like a 2000 year old book, you can say anyone saw it back then. It also says in the bible that god doesn't want anything killed for a blood sacrifice to him so why did he send Jesus. You should read the Qu'ran

Unfortunately, all of those people will tell you that NOT ONE of those 500 took a picture of Jesus holding a copy of the Jersualem Times with a day and date on it, showing it was after his death. Or better yet, the issue with his dead figure on the cross.
Since that doesn't exist, they'll say it's a bunch of second hand hooey!

why dont i believe? because none of those eye witnesses wrote down a word of it.
there are no eye witness or historical accounts corrberating the stories of the bible, therefore it's almost certain it's bullsh**. I mean, people rise form the dead and none of the local historians felt it was important enough to write a little side-note about it?
