There are no good old fashioned remedies for getting the fleas off your cat or to stay off your cat because of the flea eggs hatching and it just gets out of hand. Frontline plus is your only real solution. My cat was treated back in March and hasn't had a flea since. She stays inside all the time which helps...you can buy a flea comb at the pet store for less than a dollar and it helps to remove some but the only home remedy for the fleas to get out of carpets is to sprinkle with Mule team borax, found in the laundry detergent aisle, comes in a box and is usually with the stain remover stuff...anyway sprinle carpets and furniture and let sit for awhile then vacuum it all up. It will "cut" the fleas and you will get rid of them and if you get your cat fixed up with the frontline plus ( it is worth every penny) and is cheaper at the pet store. But check with your vet about selling you just one vial. It is only 20.00 where I live for one. It will work for a long time if you don't let your cat outside that's where they get the fleas...

I can tell you a home remedy I found for killing lice which fleas are basically lice on animals. Rub a mixture of vegetable oil and vinegar all over the cat, all the way to the skin, covering the cat. Then use a very fine tooth comb to comb out fleas and eggs. Leave the oil on for at least 15 minutes (should take longer than this to even do the combing) The vegetable oil will make it easy for the fleas and eggs to slide off of the hair while the vinegar kills both, dissolving the eggs so they can't hatch. After combing completely and removing everything you can, wash the cat with oatmeal bath or coconut shampoo if you can find it for cats. Fleas and lice don't like the smell of coconut so they won't jump back on. You will still need to treat the house. Vacuum everything that can't be put in the washer and wash EVERYTHING that can be in hot water. After vacuuming the carpet, shampoo it. My friend swears this works though I've neevr had to do it. My kids have used coconut shampoo since she told me this because I know kids get lice easily at school.

Your vacuum.
Really, I've never had any luck with the pesticides. Advantage and Frontline work, but that doesn't help kill the ones in the house.
Vacuum a lot. Every other day for 2 weeks. Get under furniture, in furniture and beds, pet and human. Wash your (and the cat's) bedding as well.
Keep in mind that baby fleas are hatching every few days. Whatever you decide to do, you need to repeat at least twice.
Good luck

Well i found out about TEA TREE OIL when my daughter kept getting lice ( 3 times in one year) from her schoolmates ( i homeschool now lolol)
For lice treatment---- add 15 to 20 drops to your shampoo --leave on for 15 minutes. DUring this time comb the hair with a lice comb.

To avoid getting lice always have the drops in your shampoo.

For fleas on pets----add 10 to 15 drops to a generic baby shampoo. and wash animal. Leave on a few minutes. and rinse Do this every couple of weeks thru flea season. Vacuum every day untill fleas are under control, wash animal bedding.

A friend of mine went to the vet and gave him a special flea shot that killed the fleas in a matter of days. That was a year ago and he hasn't gotten any more since.

Wash the cat in warm water and dawn dishwashing liquid. Make sure you dry the cat thoroughly and keep him inside and warm afterwards. Don't get the soap in his eyes, but get as much of his head as you can and if you see fleas on his face, try to crush them with your fingernails or some tweezers. This will kill most of them and should hold you over until you can get to the vet.

when my dog had flees we spent so much money on him, but nothing seemed to work. once i got my kitten my cat got them from off of my dog. we then spent money trying to get it off my kitten we bought kitten shampoo and washed his maybe 3 times, he hates water. the only thing that seemed to work was Frontline for cats. it's $28.99 - $67.99 and you can buy it at
www.doctorsfosterandsmith.com
Frontline Kills fleas and ticks before they bite. Frountline Plus also contains S-methoprene, an insect growth regulator, which breaks the life cycle of a flea. this is what i have now and it works.
AND NEVER USE SOMETHING THATS FOR DOGS ON CATS!!

Throw all the clothing/bedding your cat sleeps on in the dryer for a couple hours on high heat, give your cat a bath in tomato paste, and set off a bug bomb in your house (remove any pets and humans first). Good Luck!
