If your child is very young then wic will help. This is given through Human services. Medicaid is authorized for your child through social security office. In some cases dental is provided for the child. Local food banks can help you out , too. Food stamps have to be renewed every three months or so. Clothes can be obtained through church organizations. Lot's of baby and Todler clothes. All this will help until support from the spouse is obtained. The Dead beat Dad Law will take care of that part. Get some help from relatives, but don't lean on them to long or you might not be able to pull away when the time arrives. Garage sales can get you strollers, bassinets, baby beds, things of that sort. The main thing is find someone that you trust to help you figure and accomplish all this. Don't try to do it alone.

Don't be ashamed to ask for assistance from the government and religious organizations if you need it. Plan well and make sure you have a "discipline" budget every month and try to save as much as you can every month (even if it is only a couple of dollars). Have lots of structure for your kid (TV time, play time, school time and going to sleep at the same time every night). Find support with other single mothers and give that kids lots, lots, lots and lots of love and happiness.

NEVER give up!

If depend on how old your children are. But in general show them you care. When times get hard try not to yell and take out your frustration on your children it will only make things worst. My mother was on food stamps and section8. As low as that might seem it helped her out a lot, because she didn’t have anyone to help support her to support me and now I am in College learning how to better myself from what she went thru. I hope this help. Keep praying and I am sure God will make away for you!!

Go to Social Services, or whatever they call it in your area. Here, it's called Family Independence Agency.

They can help you with housing, and food stamps, medical help, many things. They can even help you to get a job, and find a child caretaker.

If you need help from baby's father, see the Friend of the Court.

Contact the Department of Human Services for whatever city you live in and just keep trying til you get the right person to help you. Those bureaurocracies are hard to navigate at times but just hang in.
