It has a heart warming story and a few show stopping songs, but I found that Wicked is less about the music and more about the dancing. When the music starts, its easy to turn your brain off and just watch all the dancing by the ensemble on stage. I prefer shows with less dancing and more deep music and lyrics. Something you have to actually think about while you're watching it (like Sunset Boulevard, The Beautiful Game, or Tell Me On A Sunday).
The soundtrack is okay, and I've seen it on Broadway with Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth...frankly...they both have powerful voices with huge ranges but all they do is constantly sing in belt. They start so big that they have nowhere to go by the time they get to the end of the song. It makes for a monotonus performance. I also saw Shoshona Bean and Megan Hilty in the tour and in Chicago and I find them much more to my liking as they start small and are able to do so much more with the music. By the end of a song, when they are belting out a huge note you can appreciate the WOW factor better because they hadn't sang the whole song like that.

I really enjoyed it. I saw it in Toronto and I thought the cast did a great job. The singing was great and I understand why you cried during For Good. Its a very beautiful song. I sang it for a talent show and everytime I sang it I almost criend because there is so much emotion involved. Great musical. Funny, beautiful. It was wicked!

This is really a great musical. I saw it on Broadway in the New York Gershwin Theatre with Eden Espinosa, Megan Hilty. It wasn't the original Broadway cast, but it was really a great show with great music sung by fantastic singers nonetheless.

I thought it was wonderful. I saw it in Dallas when they went on tour last year. The music is great, and the dialogue is just so funny sometimes, and so powerful a moment later! I looooove Wicked.

It is a decent musical, but not the greatest.
It carries a novelty and something that makes you like it.
But after listening to the soundtrack for a few weeks, the novelty wears off and you only listen to it again occassionally. It tries to fit in too many messages into only one production, it ends up just feeling tacked on after further digestion.

Should just say ditto. Probably my second favorite musical. I loved the story...how it fit in so well with the original Wizard of Oz. Songs were great, actors were great...great production.
