Not drank cider for a long time, just started drinking it again,
please tell me why do they have to fill your glass with 65% ice before they pour your drink.
Loads of knob heads walking around with 65% ice and 35% cider thinking they are so cool. Is the cider that strong it has to be diluted. The bottle came straight out of a fridge so it is cold. Whats going on? And at 3 POUNDS 20 A BOTTLE.

How on Earth can you even stomach cider??
Blech. As far as the percentage of ice goes, I'm impressed that you know the exact numbers, lol. Anyway, it's not about diluting your cider, it's about diluting your wallet.

Seems like you have got 2 Q's here. The first makes no sense you state Bottled cider in the Q and in the UK you buy the bottle and then you get a glass with Ice or no Ice it makes no difference to your purchase if you put one drop or the full bottle in the glass you have the full bottle which you have paid for %age in the glass is irrelevant. Unless you leave the bottle and just take the glass then as you say 'muppet'.
Cider is expensive, but very cheap to make (used to live in Hereford).
As for ice in the drink, personal preference but it is nicer chilled. Its unlike Whiskey where the CO^2 reacts to mute the flavours with cider the taste is the same (excepting the dilution)

I'm still baffled by the practice or putting ice in your cider. Do they do that with their beer, too?

Insist on NO ICE. They're ripping you off and ruining the cider. Besides, screw the magers...order K and have a real cider.

They only do that with Magners and it's really horrible. Unless you drink it down in 3 minutes it tastes like vaguely cidery water.

Stick to a nice pint of draught Strongbow or Dry Blackthorn. They don't put ice in that. At least not in Scotland. They'd get their heads kicked in if they tried it!

I agree - they are taking the mickey. They probably give the rest of the bottle to the next mug that comes along.

Tell em - no ice just what is in the bottle.

the answer is; drink it at home! If you have to drink it in a pub/club, tell them you don't want so much ice, you are paying for the service, after all.

Anthony,

Trader Joes makes a delicious apple cider.

Cider should be drunk hot, not with ice.

Different people have different preferences...my Mom loves extra ice in everything, I like very little ice.
