You pay your rent.
While you may want to go see your family, rent needs to be paid. You have to be responsible for paying your rent before you can go and play.

I think you had better pay your rent so that you aren't evicted. Do you think you could borrow the money from your family so that you can see your brother in law? If you have so little money after paying your rent, you might be paying too much rent for the income you have. Do you think you could find a less expensive place to stay? Share an apartment? Rent a room?

Call your landlord. Ask them if you can pay your rent on the 15th of January. Ask them if you can pay 1/2 now and the rest on the 15th or something you can afford. Try that first. If that fails? You must know that your bills need to come first. I know this is a hard choice right before the holidays, but when the holidays are over, and they will be over, you will have some regret about blowing off your bills. I wish you the very best and Merry Christmas.

You after to answer to needs first and you need a roof over your head....ask your family to come and see you or explain the situation to the family...perhaps they could do something for you. Well...sometimes you have to be realistic even when it hurts.
If you don't pay your rent you will possibly have to pay a late fee or even lose your apartment.
Your brother-in-law knows how you feel and will be understanding. Keep in touch by phone.

I am sorry, we all have to pay the bills first. If a true emergency comes up then talk to your landlord. But I don't know what it is and I don't know if sad cuts it.

Well, if you have a good relationship with your landlord you can always ask for an extension or you can ask a family member for a little cash to help out.
